Development Project

We wish to provide greater access to the history of the Incorporation and the Hall for everyone, whilst respecting the fabric of the building. The Development Project involves the creation of new space to the rear of the Hall, thereby freeing up the ground floor, the former chapel and schoolroom. This will allow for the improvement of physical access to the Hall and the installation of an Interpretation Centre, as well as an office, a new kitchen and toilets. The existing fabric of the Hall has been carefully restored and refurbished.
A key aspect of the project is the interpretation scheme which will provide on-site and website access to information of great educational value. This will cover the evolution of the woollen cloth trade and the craft guilds; the establishment of the Incorporation and the historical significance of the Hall and the impact on the social and economic development of the city of Exeter and the surrounding area.
You can follow the financial progress of the development on the Funding page.
